An amusing comedy-mystery starring Haley as an insurance salesman sent to guard the body of a recently deceased millionaire until the reading of his will. During his stay the corpse disappears, and two other murders occur. Well-paced comedic thriller keeps up suspense, with Lugosi adding extra chills as the servant, although his appearance here is strictly a red herring. Scriptwriter Miller, who was serving with the Marines in the South Pacific at the time, wrote the story in between his military chores. Since decent writing paper was hard to come by in the field, Miller managed as best he could, mailing envelopes filled with little scraps of paper to producer Thomas in Hollywood. Cowriter Shane would then polish the pieces into a finished script.
