Melody for Two Reviews

Unhappy with the arrangements he is given, band leader Melton leaves his group and his vocalist girl friend, Ellis. The duo eventually reunite and together become a success over the airwaves. This was the last of three contracted pictures for Melton, whose movie career effectively ended after this effort (he made a cameo in the later ZIEGFELD FOLLIES). A noted opera star, Melton continued to perform to much acclaim throughout the 1930s and '40s and made many appearances on radio. A list of fine tunes, starting with the Al Dubin-Harry Warren composition "September in the Rain," includes "A Flat in Manhattan," "An Excuse for Dancing," "Jose O'Neill, the Cuban Heel," "Dangerous Rhythm" (M. K. Jerome, Jack Scholl), "Melody for Two" (Dubin, Warren).
