Mean Dog Blues Reviews

This second-rate combination of I AM A FUGITIVE FROM A CHAIN GANG and COOL HAND LUKE finds Henry as a country-western musician mistakenly implicated in a crime and sentenced to five years on a chain gang. From there on, the story consists of a long and predictable turn of events. Kennedy is the prison guard with an odd fascination for Dobermans, but with surprisingly little to do. Windom and Louise are the married couple who get Henry into trouble in the first place. Windom certainly deserved better than this, and Louise's role doesn't have any more depth than the one she had on "Gilligan's Island." Surprisingly, Henry overcomes the script to give a decent performance. The direction and cinematography are at a par with the modest demands of the film.
