Marine Raiders Reviews

Routine Hollywood propaganda has Ryan and O'Brien as two officers in the Marines during the Guadalcanal invasion. When the Army takes over, their company is given a short leave in Australia, allowing Hussey and Ryan a chance to meet and fall in love. Fearing that his good buddy is falling into the clutches of a woman, O'Brien gets orders to have him and Ryan sent back to the States to train recruits. Angered at his friend's actions, Ryan refuses to speak to O'Brien. A new mission allows a stopover in Australia, where Ryan and Hussey wed before the men go off into battle. Performances and technical aspects are all up to standard. Picture effectively uses stock footage of plane attacks on Guadalcanal. Note producer/writer/directer Blake Edwards in a small part.
