Maracaibo Reviews

Set and filmed off the coast of Venezuela, the story centers around the efforts to put out the nasty fire of an offshore oil well. Wilde is the only man with the know-how to handle the blaze, which he brings under control before Maracaibo is blown off the map. In the interlude he romances Wallace, a visiting novelist who, although at first aloof to the amorous Wilde, quickly gives in. Wallace was Wilde's real-life wife at the time the picture was made. Performances are convincing, with a balance maintained between the drama of the fire and the drama of the romance.
