Lure of the Wasteland Reviews

Going under cover to recover a stolen $25,000, marshal Withers poses as a convict to join Mason's gang. They go on some cattle raids, ending up at the ranch where former gang member Pollard is now a cook. He's hidden the money in the safe and Mason's come to reclaim it. But Withers reveals himself and, after a knock-down-drag-out fight, brings in his man and recovers the loot. This was one of the few western programmers of the 1930s that actually was filmed in color. Unfortunately, the color is not well balanced and often comes out muddied. The story is otherwise formula material, with Mason not too convincing as a bad guy. Arnold is supposed to be a romantic heroine, but mostly stands around looking pretty. The gang does stop looting every once in a while for a song, including the old favorite "Home on the Range."
