Love and Hisses Reviews

Routine musical has columnist Winchell and bandleader Bernie playing themselves. They feud over singer Simon, a sensation just over from France. Without Winchell's knowledge, Bernie manages to get free publicity for this new performer in Winchell's column. Musical pieces help to give this stale script (which suffers from overused jokes) some life. Though not professionals, Winchell and Bernie give convincing performances. Songs include "Sweet Someone," "Broadway Gone Hawaiian," "I Want to Be in Winchell's Column," "Be a Good Sport," "Lost in Your Eyes" (Mack Gordon, Harry Revel), "Power House" (Raymond Scott), "The Wolf Song" (Norman Zeno), "Darling, Je Vous Aime Beaucoup" (Anna Sosenko), "Bell Song" (from the opera "Lakme," sung by Simone Simon), "Little Love, Little Kiss" (sung by Simon).
