This fairly routine romantic drama stars McDougal as a homely, lonely secretary in New York City who wins three free dance lessons. Her instructor, Bartle, tells her she has a unique talent for dancing and convinces her to sign a long-term lesson agreement. She falls for him, and they begin an affair. Much to Bartle's surprise, he begins to love her. When she dances with instructor Shepherd and he gives her the same sales pitch, she refuses to see Bartle anymore, despite his protestations that he does indeed love her. Her loneliness, however, finally drives her back to him.
