Land of Fury Reviews

This typically British adventure saga stars Hawkins as a naval officer who steps ashore in New Zealand with an interpreter and is promptly captured by the natives for having walked upon sacred burial ground. The quick-thinking duo reasons with the chief of the savages, and they soon have the chief begging them to stay and show them the ways of the white man. Eventually Hawkins returns to England, but is forced to leave due to some nasty legal difficulties. The sailor takes his lovely bride, Johns, back to New Zealand with him and sets up shop as a justice of the peace. Following the birth of his son, however, Hawkins falls victim to the seduction of the big chief's wily bride and soon finds himself in the middle of a war when one of the white settlers kills a native. Hawkins and his wife are killed in the battle, but the forgiving chieftain finds their baby alive and decides to raise it himself.
