It's Great to Be Alive Reviews

Brazilian tenor Roulien portrays a playboy type who decides to fly the Pacific after an argument with his fiancee, Stuart. He crash-lands his plane on a remote island and is spared from a deadly disease, "masculitis," that kills off the entire world's male population. After five years on the island, Roulien is discovered and is brought into the female world to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Gangster Burgess is the one behind the auction. Roulien is rescued by the police and the international congress headed by Oliver. It's her plan to pass him around to all the women of the world, but Roulien wants no part of it. He wants to get back with Stuart, which he does. A remake of THE LAST MAN ON EARTH (1924), IT'S GREAT TO BE ALIVE bombed at the box office, possibly because of the unknown cast and strange storyline. Roulien was a big draw in the Spanish cinema and a Spanish language version of this film was made simultaneously. Songs include "Goodbye Ladies," "I'll Build a Nest," "Women," "It's Great to Be the Only Man Alive" (William Kernell).
