This creepy thriller stars de Marney as a Paris sculptor who has an affair with the wife of another sculptor who is slowly going mad. When the madman discovers the infidelity, he snaps completely, kills his wife, and plasters her up in a statue. He is eventually arrested for another murder, that of his mistress, but de Marney becomes involved in the occult trying to find out what happened to his lover. Good suspenseful moments are somewhat weakened by long, slow passages and an overly complicated flashback structure.
