Drifting Souls Reviews

Although the plot does not bear close scrutiny and the comedy relief of Guinn "Big Boy" Williams and Mischa Auer is decidedly ho-hum, Drifting Souls survives as a fairly engrossing Poverty Row potboiler buoyed by a fine performance by Lois Wilson. A charming if unassuming silent screen leading lady, Wilson had enjoyed major success in Grade-A Westerns of the mid-'20s, including the still extant The Vanishing American (1925), but at 38, she was nearing the end of her starring career. Instead, she turned to character acting and enjoyed a second career that would include both radio and television soap operas.
