Double Negative Reviews

Finding his wife raped and murdered on his return from an assignment in the Mideast, photo-journalist Michael Taylor (Sarrazin) winds up in a mental institution from the combined stress of his assignment and his wife's death. His present girl friend, Paula (Clark), gets him out, and Michael begins a search for the killer, who he believes is his wife's former lover (Perkins). A loose reworking of a Ross MacDonald novel, this muddled film fails to sufficiently untangle its confusing plot, although a Perkins performance is always worth watching. Originally released in 1980 as DOUBLE NEGATIVE, the film was released on video in 1987 as DEADLY COMPANION.
