Diamonds for Breakfast Reviews

Mastroianni ventures out of Italy and tackles his first British production. He takes a role as a bumbling boutique owner who is fourth in succession to the Russian throne. His goal is to get back the imperial jewels that his father gambled away years before. Together with a comic assortment of playful lovelies, he devises a plan to steal the gems during a fashion show. Modeling ritzy clothes and dazzling diamonds, the fashionable femmes try to sneak out with the rocks they wear. Trouble ensues as things go wrong, alas, and a morass of double crossing results. A cardboard script and weak directing by Morahan, making his directorial bow, waste the film's potential.
