Dancers in the Dark Reviews

Set in a taxi dance hall, this story has bandleader Oakie trying to save a young pal from the clutches of one of the dancers he thinks is a shady lady, Hopkins. Oakie dates Hopkins when his pal is lured away, falls in love with her himself, then becomes the target of gangster George Raft, who also loves the girl. In a melee at the end, Raft is killed, Oakie is shot, and the two young lovers are reunited. Among the film's songs is "St. Louis Blues" (W.C. Handy, sung by Hopkins).
