Blood on Satan's Claw Reviews

Though inferior to Michael Reeves's classic THE WITCHFINDER GENERAL (1968), which obviously inspired this effort, BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW has considerable virtue in its own right. Set in 17th-century England, the story concerns a beautiful blond girl who discovers a disembodied claw of Satan and organizes a cult of teenagers to resurrect the Prince of Darkness. Directed with flair by Piers Haggard (grandson of H. Rider Haggard, the author of King Solomon's Mines and She), this tale of witchcraft is quite effective. Fans of gore will be glad to note that the various tortures and brutalities are given detailed treatment. Beware cut prints.
