Optimistic small-town songwriter Downs moves to the Big Apple, breaks through the prevailing cynicism, falls in love with Whitney, and writes a hit song that catapults him to fame and fortune in Hollywood. Forgettable musical comedy that nonetheless features the high spirits and distinct talents of its young stars.
