Blind Alibi Reviews

Slightly bizarre extortion movie starring Dix as a sculptor living in Paris whose sister is being blackmailed with some steamy love letters she wrote in her youth. Dix retrieves the letters, but then they're accidentally shipped to a Los Angeles art museum with a cargo of antiques. The loyal brother travels to LA and hatches a clever plan that will give him unlimited access to the musuem. Dix acquires Ace the Wonder Dog and feigns blindness to gain the sympathy of the young assistant curator, Bourne. She allows him to roam around feeling the sculptures so he may copy them in his own art. In reality, this scam gives him enough time to search for the missing letters. Dix and Bourne grow close over the days, but the extortionist in Paris hires a group of thugs to go to the museum and get the letters back. Dix and the dog beat the crooks and everything turns out fine in the end. This was Dix's first film for RKO in two years; his fortunes were declining and he hoped this programmer would put him back on top, which it didn't.
