Beware, My Lovely Reviews

Howard (Ryan), a mentally challenged handyman who makes a hand-to-mouth living by doing odd jobs, takes flight when he discovers the body of his most recent employer, fearing that he himself may the murderer. In another town, Howard begins working for Mrs. Gordon (Lupino), a schoolteacher and widow who needs her house cleaned. As the film continues, Mrs. Gordon slowly begins to catch on that Howard has some real problems, but by the time she realizes the danger she's in, it's too late (or is it?). Although not as suspenseful as many film noir thrillers, this small film boasts a fairly tight script. Ryan is excellent in an intense performance as the volatile and twisted handyman, especially when he is confronted by Lupino's spiteful daughter who mercilessly taunts him for doing "woman's work."
