During WWII, Colonel Joe Madden agrees to stay behind after the Army is ordered to leave the Philippines and organize an underground resistance movement.

Rousing, square-jawed, flag waving WWII drama with Filipino guerrillas following John Wayne to victory in the Pacific. Interesting subplot has Franquelli as Quinn's sweetheart and a suspected Tokyo Rose/Axis Sally broadcaster. This is the only film in which Dmytryk and Wayne were both involved--a none-too-surprising fact considering Wayne's strong right-wing stance and Dmytryk's left-wing leanings.
