A Matter of Murder Reviews

Dull crime drama in which a henpecked bank clerk is driven to embezzlement to obtain the money needed to keep his girl friend happy. When she turns up dead, he flees the city to keep from being blamed. With the actual murderer and a detective on his trail, the clerk takes cover in a boarding-house run by a detective and his daughter. There he becomes the killer's next intended victim. Many situations make absolutely no sense and are presented in an incoherent manner, much to the discredit of director Gilling, who usually is associated with brisk low-budget thrillers.
