Like a true Canadian, Thicke was a die-hard hockey fan and a longtime friend of Wayne Gretzky's. In fact, he played a huge role in The Great One's trade from the Edmonton Oilers to the LA Kings. Gretzky was babysitting Thicke's son Robin when then-Kings owner Bruce McNall called Thicke's home after the deal was done. "I remember calling when the deal was finally done. It was early in the morning and I had to get Wayne to the airport with me to fly on to Edmonton, and it was [his son] Robin who answered the phone," McNall told Grantland. "I said, 'Robin, I need Wayne,' and he said, 'What's going on, what's going on?' And I said, 'The deal is done, we got him.'" You can read about the whole thing here.
