Where We Left Off: The second season ended with Noah taking the fall for Scotty's murder, even though Helen and Alison were actually responsible for the youngest Lockhart brother's demise.

What's Next: The new season will pick up three years after Noah's false confession and show there's more trouble in paradise than ever. The show's creator Sarah Treem promised TVGuide.com that the true father of Alison's baby will be revealed and that a fifth perspective will be added into the show's storytelling. Noah will have a new love interest, played by French actress Irene Jacob, who obviously won't help him continue his relationship with Alison or Helen.

Premieres: Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8/7c

Where We Left Off: Team Arrow, aided by a mob of Star City civilians, was able to cut through Darhk's magic, giving Oliver the opportunity to kill him. After the battle, Diggle (who finally confessed to Lyla that killing Andy wasn't self-defense) quit the team to re-enlist, while Thea also opted to hang up her hood. With no one but his ex Felicity left by his side, Oliver was then sworn in as interim mayor of Star City.

What's Next: Oliver and Felicity train a new crew: Evelyn Sharp (Madison McLaughlin), Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez) and Curtis Holt, who will begin his transformation into Mr. Terrific. Felicity will continue to struggle with the guilt of what happened at Havenrock, but she will get a distraction in the form of a new boyfriend (sorry, Olicity fans). Season 5 will also reportedly mark the final season of Oliver flashbacks, which will focus on Ollie's time in the Russian Bratva with Anatoly Knyazev (David Dykl) and a new villain Kovar (Dolph Lundgren). There's also another bad guy, Tobias Church (Chad Coleman), a savvy gangster, and Prometheus, the season's sword-wielding big bad. The season will also introduce Josh Segarra as DA Adrian Chase, aka Vigilante; Tyler Ritter as SCPD Det. Malone; and Carly Pope as reporter Susan Williams. Katie Cassidy will also return in some form after being killed off in Season 4.

Where We Left Off: Leonard and Penny decided to renew their vows publicly to give their friends and family a real wedding ceremony. Leonard's dad and Sheldon's mom spent the night together after they bonded over their dislike of Leonard's mother.

What's Next: So, uh, Sheldon and Leonard might be stepbrothers now? The Season 10 premiere will pick up with the awkward morning after. Also in the premiere, we'll finally meet Penny's mother, played by Married with Children and Sons of Anarchy icon Katey Sagal (who also played Kaley Cuoco's mother on 8 Simple Rules), when she arrives for the wedding. Other guest stars this season will include 30 Rock's Jack McBrayer as Penny's brother and Breaking Bad's Dean Norris as an Air Force officer interested in Leonard and Howard's quantum gyroscope.

Premieres: Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9:30/8:30c

Where We Left Off: The Season 2 finale paid tribute to Good Times, one of its black family sitcom antecedents, with a joyous fantasy episode that nonetheless got pretty poignant. There's a lot of stress in the Johnson house, with Dre worrying that he's going to get laid off, while Bow is pregnant with their unexpected fifth child. Fortunately, this is a tight-knit family where even the kids are willing to sacrifice their allowances to help out.

What's Next: The baby will born at some point, and a cast member from Hamilton will be involved. Daveed Diggs -- who's halfway to an EGOT for playing Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette in the musical -- will have a recurring arc as Bow's entitled hippie-ish brother Johan (he'll probably try to convince her, a doctor, that modern medicine is evil and she should give birth in a forest). And now that former Black-ish showrunner Larry Wilmore's late-night show is canceled, maybe he'll have some time for a guest spot on the show he had to leave behind before it premiered (fingers crossed).

Where We Left Off: Liz is alive and Alexander Kirk (whose real name is Constantine Rostova) is her father. Turns out Liz faked her own death with the help of Mr. Kaplan, so that she could get her daughter Agnes away from Red. Tom, who was aware of the plan, fled to Cuba to reunite with Liz, but he was followed by Kirk (who foiled Red's plan to kill him in the process). In Cuba, Kirk kidnapped Liz and dropped the big parental bombshell.

What's Next: The moment we've all been waiting for: Liz and Red's big reunion, when he tracks down Kirk's hiding place and goes there to rescue Liz. Red, however, still feels betrayed by the whole faking-her-own-death thing. The fourth season will also "uncover Liz's twisted past," creators have promised, as she struggles to come to terms with the truth about her father. And, perhaps most importantly, it will tee up the upcoming spin-off The Blacklist: Redemption, which will focus Tom and premiere midseason. So, what does that mean for Tom and Liz's relationship? "At the end of Season 3, they kind of for a moment ... got a glimpse of their dream coming true," Ryan Eggold tells TVGuide.com. "And then, it was taken away. ... What is at stake for their relationship [now] is really their daughter. ... Can they be parents? Can they bring a person into this chaotic, criminal world that they have?"

Premieres: Monday, Sept. 14 at 8/7c

Where We Left Off: The plot to take down Mayfair ended in her murder, and Weller grudgingly filling her position. But Weller had even bigger problems after he discovered that Jane wasn't Taylor Shaw. Jane, finding out that information for herself, murdered Oscar and learned that a man named Shepherd was the leader of the group that wiped her memory -- and that she voluntarily agreed to go through with the procedure. In the season's final moments, Weller arrested Jane.

What's Next: Season 2 will pick up three months after Jane's been locked up in an FBI black site, getting treated like a prisoner. But it sounds like she'll cut a deal. "If Season 1 was about Jane being a Trojan Horse inside the FBI, Season 2 is about Jane infiltrating her former organization," creator Martin Gero tells us. "We're dealing a lot with trust, family, and identity [issues] still." Don't expect to be in the dark about who Jane is for long. "All the 'Who is Jane Doe?' and 'Where is she from?' questions are answered in the season premiere. So almost immediately, a lot of the questions from Season 1 are answered and dozens of new questions arrive." And we still have the contents of Mayfair's mysterious M7G677 folder to unpack.

Where We Left Off: The season-long chase to capture serial killer Thomas Wilder came to an end when Danny shot him dead in self-defense after Wilder abducted Nicky. After his public comments criticizing police got an officer shot, Mayor Poole was ready to resign, but Frank convinced him to apologize and stay.

What's Next: He may be dead, but the Thomas Wilder saga ain't over yet for Danny, who will find his future on the line. Michael Imperioli will appear as Michael Lewis, a lawyer from the attorney general's office who leads an investigation against Danny after uncovering new evidence in the shooting. Lori Loughlin will also guest-star in the season premiere as Grace, a widow of a police officer who asks Frank not to enlist her son in the force.

Premieres: Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8/7c

Where We Left Off: After learning Bob (guest Dennis Haysbert) was working for criminal mastermind Figgis, Holt and Jake were able to take Figgis' operation down. However, Figgis was never arrested and called in some nasty death threats to Jake, forcing them to move to Florida as part of the Witness Protection Program. Elsewhere, Boyle learned he would adopt a child and Amy and Jake's relationship elevated to "I love you SO MUCH."

What's Next: Jake and Holt -- sorry, "Greg" and "Larry" -- will be neighbors and coworkers at a place called Frank's Fun Zone, run by The Lonely Island's Jorma Taccone, and their only contact will be with their handler, guest star Maya Rudolph. Will that put a strain on Jake and Amy's relationship? Probably! Ken Marino will also guest as the new head of the 99, Cheers' Rhea Perlman will play a Florida power walker who has eyes on Holt, and don't forget about the New Girl-Brooklyn Nine-Nine crossover episode in October.

Where We Left Off: Kidd's ex-husband, Grant, broke into her apartment and was waiting in the dark, knife in hand, when she and Severide returned. Borelli was a wreck after his brother's death on duty and blamed Boden. Dawson moved in to a new apartment (thanks, Herrmann!) and got approved to be a foster mother to Louie. Casey's on board too, as he showed up at her door at the end of the finale.

What's Next: The Season 5 premiere picks up in Kidd's apartment, and the Grant-Kidd-Severide love triangle plays out to "a dramatic ending" by the end of the first episode, executive producer Michael Brandt tells TVGuide.com. Elsewhere, tension between Borelli and Boden continues to simmer, challenging Boden "more than anything else he's had to deal with," Brandt says, and Casey and Dawson rethink their priorities now that they're parents to Louie. Grey's Anatomy alum Scott Elrod will play a charismatic social media celebrity whose lavish lifestyle enthralls Severide, and who eventually becomes "the devil on Severide's shoulder." Boden's stepson, James, will also play a role this season, as a recent high school graduate who's decided he wants to follow in his stepfather's footsteps and become a fireman.

Where We Left Off: Rhodes lost his mentor, Dr. Downey, who succumbed to cancer. April's boyfriend proposed, but a medical exam also revealed that she has TB. Goodwin's husband left her, and Manning realized she's finally ready to move on from her late husband. Will got an offer to be a full-time attending at Chicago Med, while Reese declined her pathology offer after graduating, meaning she's unemployed.


What's Next: Ato Essandoh is joining the cast as Rhodes' new mentor Dr. Latham, a "challenging personality" who leaves Rhodes "wondering if he made the right career choice, if he can even tolerate two years of a fellowship under this new boss," executive producers Andrew Schneider and Diane Frolov tell TVGuide.com. Rhodes will also have a new romantic relationship with someone who has an unexpected connection to the hospital. The "will-they-or-won't-they" dynamic will continue between Halstead and Manning, as she strikes up a relationship with Jeff Clarke, her old friend (and Chicago Fire alum) who is joining the hospital as a medical student, and he pairs off with pathologist Nina Shore. April's relationship also hits a speed bump in the form of the "emotional impact" of her TB diagnosis, according to Schneider and Frolov, but Goodwin quickly finds herself single and ready to mingle. Reese returns to the hospital in a surprising new residency, and Choi has been promoted to chief resident. His approach to the job will put him at odds with Maggie.

Where We Left Off: Voight avenged his son Justin's murder by tracking down the assailant and killing him. Lindsay's the only one in the unit who knows what Voight's done, even though he forced her to leave the scene so that she won't actually witness the murder.

What's Next: The season picks up about a week later, with Lindsay struggling with her desire to protect Voight, while also being the target of an investigation by Commander Crowley, who's highly suspicious of Voight. That will lead to a "seismic shift in the relationship between Lindsay, Voight, and by extension, Halstead," executive producer Matt Olmstead tells TVGuide.com. For Linstead, the couple moves in together, as Lindsay relies on Halstead for support regarding the Voight situation. Julie Tay (Li Jun Li) will be introduced as Burgess' new patrol partner, who's being targeted by a commanding officer who tries to derail her career after she rebuffs his sexual advances. Also in the early part of the season, someone from Lindsay's past reaches out, and Platt faces her own crisis.

Premieres: Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 10/9c

Where We Left Off: Angus' Adderall addiction became so obvious that Mario finally noticed, but Angus is past the point of caring. Meanwhile, Christa called it quits with Neal once she found out that the only reason he left Grace is because she said no to his proposal, not because he wanted to be with someone else.

What's Next: We won't be finding out what's left in the Christa/Neal romance since both Bonnie Somerville and Raza Jaffrey left the show after the first season. But it's going to be a brand new Code Black as Rob Lowe, Noah Gray-Cabey, Emily Tyra and Nafessa Williams join the cast. Lowe's Col. Ethan Willis doesn't play by the rules and surely will be making waves with Marica Gay Harden's Dr. Rorish, which could be the surge of energy the hospital drama needs.

Where We Left Off: Rebecca Bloom may be just a little teeny bit less crazy than she was at the start of the series now that she actually has gotten Josh -- or at least, hooked up with Josh as his and Valencia's 'ship went down in flames. Meanwhile, Greg confessed his real true love for Rebecca (alone while drunkenly puking, but still).

What's Next: Valencia is sticking around, likely to fight for her man, as Gabrielle Ruiz has been promoted to series regular. And Paula, who's been sidelined from her own life for way too long caring for everybody else's issues, really, really steps up to take charge when she prioritizes a big career opportunity over the needs of her fully capable husbands, sons and -- likely -- Rebecca too.

Premieres: Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 9/8c

Where We Left Off: Hotch got swatted on suspicion of conspiracy, but it turned out he was set up by a disgruntled anarchist he had put away years ago who was plotting multiple prison breaks. The BAU stopped one, but by the end of the finale, 13 unsubs, including Mr. Scratch, had broken out.

What's Next: How will Hotch leave? Thomas Gibson was suspended and subsequently fired after an on-set altercation with a writer-producer, forcing the show to quickly retool plans. During Gibson's initial suspension, which starts in Episode 3, Hotch was written to be away on temporary duty -- will that set up his ultimate exit? Also in the third episode, Paget Brewster returns for the first of at least six episodes, as Prentiss helps the BAU catch the unsubs on the loose, some of whom were caught off-screen. Adam Rodriguez joins the cast as Luke Alvez, a Fugitive Task Force agent who has served in Iraq and desperately wants to catch one of those said unsubs, the Crimson King, with whom he has a past. Our baby girl Garcia, still mourning Morgan's absence, doesn't warm to Luke too quickly.

Where We Left Off: The Legends destroyed the Oculus to stop the Time Masters from helping Vandal Savage, and Snart martyred himself in the process. They also managed to stop Vandal's plan to send Earth back to 1700 BC by killing him three times. Rip then asked the team to join him in protecting the timeline and everyone signed on board, save Kendra and Carter. But they were interrupted by Rex Tyler (Patrick J. Adams), aka Hourman, a member of the Justice Society of America who was sent back in time by Rory to save their lives.

What's Next: Fans can expect many JSA members to make appearances, including Obsidian (Lance Henriksen), Stargirl (Courtney Whitemore), Commander Steel (Matthew MacCaull) and Dr. Nid-Nite. The Legends will also team up with Amaya Jiwe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), aka Vixen, who is the grandmother of Megalyn Echikunwooke's Vixen character. And Nick Zano will join the cast as Dr. Nate Heywood, a historian (who will eventually become Citizen Steel) who discovers the Legends are scattered through time and goes to rescue them. The Legends will also be fighting the super-villains the Legion of Doom, which includes Damien Darhk, Malcolm Merlyn, Reverse-Flash and Captain Cold (which should make things very interesting for Rory, who was heartbroken to say goodbye when Snart died last season). Despite Laurel being dead, Katie Cassidy has signed a deal to appear in all the Arrow-verse shows in some form, so it's possible we'll get a Lance sister reunion in some form or another. Stephen Amell will also appear early in the premiere as Mayor Oliver Queen, and fans can expect the return of Jonah Hex later on in the season.

Where We Left Off: Working with the Iranian diplomat Hashemi, Morland struck a deal to eliminate the devious Vikner and establish himself as the new leader of Moriarty's organization. He vowed to destroy the organization from within in an effort to protect Sherlock and Joan, but this new development meant he would be leaving New York for London. Elsewhere, Joan learned she had a half-sister and Sherlock embarked on a sweet new relationship with Fiona.

What's Next: Morland's decision to relocate Moriarty's organization to London unfortunately means John Noble is no longer a series regular in Season 5, but that's okay because Sherlock and Joan have their hands pretty full already. In the premiere, Sherlock and Watson will assist the NYPD in a manhunt for a serial bomber who has apparently just moved back to town or just woken up from a six-year nap. The investigation will lead Joan to Shinwell Johnson, played by new cast member Nelsan Ellis. Johnson is a reformed criminal whose life Joan once saved. The character originally appeared in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Illustrious Client."

Where We Left Off: All hell broke loose at Hakeem's wedding, where Anika and Rhonda locked horns in an epic catfight that appears to have sent one of them over the edge -- literally falling off the balcony. Just minutes before, Anika married Lucious to prevent her from testifying to the feds. All the drama sent both Hakeem's fiancée Laura and Cookie fleeing. Jamal too has sworn off his family, though he may be getting serious with closeted producer D-Major.

What's Next: Somebody is definitely dead as a result of the fall, producers have said, so there will obviously be fallout from it. Season 3 has a hip-hop Godfather theme, with Lucious attempting to swat away challengers to his throne -- including Shine, the former friend turned foe played by Xzibit, and Tariq, the fed investigator we now know is his half-brother too. Cookie apparently reneges on her decision to leave Lucious for good but instead doubles down on her commitment to the Lyon brood. Meanwhile, we'll also see the return of Freda Gatz, whose bullets meant for Lucious ended up wounding Jamal, as well as D-Major, who'll deepen his relationship with Jamal. Per tradition, Empire will feature plenty of guest luminaries, including Mariah Carey as an Empire artist, rapper French Montana and mogul Birdman.

Where We Left Off: Barry Allen decided to rewrite history in the final moments of the Season 2 finale. After defeating Zoom, the Scarlet Speedster decided he was tired of living a life without his parents and went back in time to stop his mother from being murdered by Eobard Thawne.

What's Next: The beginning of Season 3 will force Barry to deal with the repercussions of his actions, changing the timeline in such a major way and realizing that life without his parents is hard but a life without his powers isn't one that he wants at all. The new season will also add two major villains, including Dr. Alchemy. Harry Potter alum Tom Felton also joins Season 3 as Julian Dorn - another forensic specialist at the Central City PD with Barry.

Premieres: Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 9/8c

Where We Left Off: Louis' brother, Gene (Ken Jeong), visited, but after having multiple "Chinese polite fights," Gene and Grandma took off for Taiwan, where the former is getting married. Louis then declared that the whole family is going to Taiwan.

What's Next: The Huangs will indeed go to Taiwan. The Season 3 premiere was filmed in Taipei, where Louis will try to make amends with Gene and introduce his kids to his and Jessica's homeland. The visit will set up a reverse "fish-out-of-water" scenario for the boys, who have heretofore never been outside of America. Expect the trip to have a lasting effect on them, as they try to reconcile their identity and sense of belonging.

Where We Left Off: Adam survived Freshman Fear Week and graduated from eighth grade. Erica finally realized she had feelings for Geoff Schwartz, but it was too late, as he moved on to someone else. Beverly decided to get her teaching certificate so she could be with all three of her schmoopies in high school.

What's Next: Season 4 kicks off with a tribute to The Breakfast Club. Barry, Adam and Erica will be stuck in detention on a Saturday, and you can bet that Principal Vernon, er, Ball will be involved. Look for another '80s tribute later on in the season for the show's annual "Adam's Folly" homage. The fourth season will also focus on change, as Adam acclimates to high school and Erica prepares to graduate. And will Bev earn her teaching certificate? Everyone's favorite smother knows how to get what she wants.

Where We Left Off: Indian Hill was blown to bits and Hugo Strange's most depraved experiments were let loose on Gotham City, including a resurrected Fish Mooney and a creepy Bruce Wayne doppelganger.

What's Next: The new season will pick up six months after the Indian Hill breakout and villains are running amok in the city. Executive producer Ken Woodruff tells TVGuide.com that Penguin will be making a power play very soon to protect himself against Fish and her new crew of monsters. Meanwhile, Bruce will begin developing his "playboy" mask that will eventually be a great cover for his Batman hobbies.

Where We Left Off: Amelia and Owen (presumably) tied the knot, and April gave birth to her and Jackson's baby. Jo confessed to DeLuca that the reason she can't marry Alex is that she's already married, and changed her name to escape from her abusive husband. Alex walked in on them in a very compromising position, and before Jo could explain, he wailed on DeLuca. Arizona gave Callie her blessing for Callie to take Sofia to New York so she can be with Penny. Meredith and Riggs realized they have a connection that goes deeper than just sex, but an unwitting Maggie told Meredith that she has feelings for Riggs, and believes they're reciprocated.

What's Next: Season 13 will primarily focus on the original characters of Meredith, Alex, Bailey and Richard. The Meredith-Riggs-Maggie dynamic will cause problems for the sisters beyond the season premiere, which will mainly deal with the "pretty intense fallout" from Alex's beating of DeLuca, which "causes some friction among the doctors," Kelly McCreary tells TVGuide.com. Amelia and Owen will find themselves navigating the ups and downs of married life, while Alex and Jo find their relationship upended after Jo's dishonesty and Alex's violent impulses. It remains to be seen whether Callie will get a proper sendoff, given Sara Ramirez's departure from the show, as well as whether Jackson and April's co-parenting will reunite them as a couple.

Where We Left Off: Danny saved McGarrett's life by donating his liver, and the transplant is a success. Gabriel died during surgery and asked Chin Ho to take care of his daughter, Sara.

What's Next: Season 7, which picks up a few weeks after the end of Season 6, "goes right into a very poignant, more reflective McGarrett, thinking about everything that happened. He looks, at maybe his relationships have suffered because of his career," showrunner Peter Lenkov tells TVGuide.com. "It's sort of a theme that we start. Everybody in one way or another starts looking at the bigger picture in their lives. There's more to being than just their jobs." To that end, Chin will start the season on strong footing with Abby and taking a paternalistic role with Sara, and Adam and Kono reunite stronger than ever after his time in prison. With Gabriel out of the picture, a serial killer case in the first four episodes will set up the series' next big bad, and Episode 7, which marks the show's 150th episode, will feature the return of a familiar face.

Where We Left Off: Frank went on the lam after Annalise learned his dirty secret: 10 years ago, he had bugged her room during the Wallace Mahoney case, which led to her car being T-boned and losing her near-term baby. Caleb was the one behind the Hapstalls' murders and committed suicide before he could be arrested. Oliver declined and deleted Connor's acceptance into Stanford, while Asher and Michaela hooked up. Wes approached Wallace, his biological father, but someone shot Wallace dead before Wes could say much.

What's Next: Frank is alive, but how he will - or if he can - win back Annalise's good graces will be his quest on Season 3. The identity of Wallace's shooter is not the only mystery - a new one will be teed up in the season premiere, and may or may not involve the new Middleton University president, played by Dexter's Luna (formerly Lauren) Velez, who clashes with Annalise. Season 3 will also explore more of Laurel's and Michaela's backstories, and feature Esai Morales and Amy Madigan in guest roles.

Where We Left Off: What didn't happen last season? Alba got her green card, Xo discovered she was pregnant and Petra's long-lost twin sister arrived and stole her identity before locking Petra up in the hospital under the guise of having had a stroke. Meanwhile, Michael and Jane finally tied the knot, but before the couple could embark on their honeymoon, Sin Rostro shot Michael while wearing the face of his former partner, Susanna Barnett.

What's Next: Jane will be keeping calm and carrying on. Just kidding. As expected, Jane will be stressed to the max as she waits to hear news of the fate of her new husband, while a seemingly innocuous detail discovered at the crime scene will send Rafael's spider senses tingling. And as if that's not enough to chew on, Xo will be forced to make a decision regarding her pregnancy and Jane will be forced to deal with her new mother-in-law, as the elder Mrs. Cordero wasn't exactly keen on Jane marrying her son in the first place.

Where We Left Off: When Dodds and Benson went to help a suspect's wife and kids move out, Dodds got fatally shot by the husband. Benson blamed herself for his death, so her boyfriend, Ed Tucker, suggested they go away to Paris together. Barba revealed that he'd been receiving death threats for months -- specifically after he indicted the three cops who shot Terrence Reynolds, an unarmed black man -- but he didn't manage to learn who was behind them.

What's Next: With Warren Leight gone, Rick Eid will step up as showrunner for the long-running procedural, which will continue to explore the aftermath of Dodds' death. Meanwhile, Benson and Tucker's' relationship will grow even stronger, which will bring out a different side of the lieutenant. SVU will also take on a case inspired by Making a Murderer, which will feature Kelli Williams and Henry Thomas. Joe Biden will also appear in an episode focused on rape kit backlogs.

Where We Left Off: Amenadiel and Lucifer teamed up to send Malcolm back to Hell, but Lucifer got shot in the process. Lucifer made a deal with his father that he would do God's bidding if Chloe is kept safe, which also saved his life in the process. Lucifer's first mission from God: tracking down his mother who escaped from Hell.

What's Next: Now that Lucifer's mom Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) is on the loose, she'll be out for revenge. "She wants what was taken from her back," Helfer says. This might spell trouble for Maze, who was chief enforcer in Hell during some of Charlotte's stint. And although Lucifer and Amenadiel will unite to recapture their mother before she causes too much damage, Charlotte's arrival on Earth means lots of simmering childhood resentment between the brothers will surface. "Even if you're the prince of darkness, your mom still brings out certain things in you that other characters wouldn't," Ellis says. "There's a new vulnerability in Lucifer, in an emotional sense." The season will also explore why Lucifer bleeds when he's around Chloe, as well as his conflicting feelings towards her. Michael Imperioli will join the cast as Lucifer's brother Uriel, Aimee Garcia will play a religious forensic scientist who fascinates Lucifer and Charisma Carpenter will appear in the fifth episode as a former Playboy Playmate trapped in a loveless marriage.

Where We Left Off: Bess spent much of the finale thinking she was being squeezed out of her position, but -- surprise! -- the job of secretary of state was actually opening up because President Conrad Dalton wanted Bess to be his new vice president. Bess' response: "Whaaaaat?" Also, Stevie almost got engaged to lovable Brit Jareth, but put the brakes on their commitment, and Dmitri was successfully traded for Buckley with the Russians.

What's Next: We're still waiting for Bess' answer to Dalton's offer, which will really dictate where Season 3 is headed. But you can expect Morgan Freeman to return as Chief Justice Wilbourne in the Season 3 premiere, and Freeman should get all his good angles as he's also directing the episode.

Where We Left Off: In order to stop the powerful Inhuman Hive and save the world, Lincoln stole the Quinjet that Daisy knew to be destined to explode and piloted it to outer space. Elsewhere, Fitz and Simmons finally stopped overanalyzing every little thing and realized they were perfect together, while May had to say goodbye to Andrew. The finale then jumped months into the future to reveal that Daisy had left SHIELD and Coulson was no longer director.

What's Next: The series is dipping into the Marvel pool in a big way in Season 4 with the introduction of comic book character Ghost Rider. However, this will be a different version of the character than the one Nicolas Cage famously brought to the big screen. "It's Robbie Reyes, which is a different run -- a very popular run of Ghost Rider -- who's not the Harley-riding Johnny Blaze," says star Clark Gregg. Reyes, who has a Dodge Charger instead of a Harley, is a young Latino from East Los Angeles and will be played by Gabriel Luna. Coulson will also be stepping back into the role of agent, which Gregg says is like "putting on a comfortable suit," while Daisy will be on her own once more in an attempt to protect the people she cares about, as well as herself, since everyone she gets close to seems to get hurt.

Where We Left Off: Bill and Virginia missed the big press conference for their new book because they got thrown in jail after Nora turned them in for running a prostitution ring. Bill finally admitted to Libby that he's been having an affair with Virginia (which she already knows). Virginia decided to leave Bill once and for all and leave town with Dan Logan, who bailed her out of jail and proposed. Barton seemed to be coming to terms with his sexuality, as he went on his first date with a man in public (and later bailed Bill out of jail).

What's Next: In news that will surprise no one, things aren't completely over between Bill and Virginia, who will continue to work together while attempting to ignore the sexual chemistry between them -- and bringing two new doctors, a man and a woman, into their practice in the process. As far as the medical cases, Season 4 "is very much about deviance," creator Michelle Ashford tells TVGuide.com. Libby, meanwhile, "finds an entire new life through divorce," according to Ashford, and is just one of several characters who goes through "a monumental change" this season. The season will also incorporate actual historical events, including the protest of the 1968 Miss America pageant, where the idea of "bra-burning" originated.

Premieres: Tuesday, Oct. 4

Where We Left Off: After getting stuck in an elevator together, Mindy had sex with Danny (who still hadn't revealed he's engaged) and the pair both said, "I love you." She came home after the blissful reunion to discover Jody had -- as an attempted romantic gesture -- bought the unit above Mindy's so that she could expand her apartment.

What's Next: Fans won't have to wait long to learn how Mindy will react to discovering Danny and Sarah's wedding invitation in the premiere, which is titled "Decision 2016." And based on the fact that Chris Messina has been demoted from series regular to guest star, it doesn't look as though Mindy will be too forgiving towards Danny's lies. However, executive producer Matt Warburton doesn't want fans to worry too much about Danny's decreased role in the Hulu comedy. "He's Leo's dad, so he'll always have a place on the show," Warburton insists. Season 5 will also add Nasim Pedrad as Leo's pediatrician, Bryan Greenberg as a pediatric nurse and Rebecca Rittenhouse as a new doctor in the office who acts as a foil for Mindy. Additionally, B.J. Novak will reprise his role as Jamie, the Latin professor who was in love with his best friend (Eva Amurri Martino), for "a juicy little arc," according to Kaling.

Premieres: Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9/8c

Where We Left Off: Claire and Jay were both struggling to adjust to Jay's return to work at the company he founded. Haley's boyfriend Andy moved back to Utah, but they're going to try a long-distance relationship. Mitchell and Cam spent the summer in Missouri, while the Jay's family went to Mexico for a wedding and the Dunphys vacationed in New York.

What's Next: The family reunites in the Season 8 premiere for Father's Day. Then things get even more complicated at work for Claire and Jay. Gloria's hot sauce business starts to take off, while Phil develops some new hobbies. Manny and Luke are going on college visits, and Alex experiences the time-honored college tradition of mononucleosis. They grow up so fast. Nathan Fillion will guest-star lineup as a weatherman named Rainer Shine.

Premieres: Thursday, Oct. 27 at 9/8c

Where We Left Off: The season finale was all about fear of financial insecurity. Christy was highly stressed about paying for college until she asked for a scholarship to help her finish school, and to her surprise and delight she got one. Bonnie sold Violet's unused wedding dress to get the last of the money Christy needed to pay for her first semester. The bad news is that Violet is manifesting some of the same problems that have plagued her mother and grandmother.

What's Next: Season 4 will be about problems for the people around Christy and Bonnie. Violet is struggling with drug abuse, Roscoe is experimenting with weed and Bonnie's boyfriend Adam's drinking is starting to become an issue for her. We'll be seeing more of Adam, though, as William Fichtner joins the show full time.

Where We Left Off: Tony DiNozzo left upon learning that he and Ziva have a daughter named Tali, information that came to light after Ziva was killed during a mortar attack on her farmhouse in Israel.

What's Next: Three new agents are coming on board in an attempt to fill the Tony-sized void in the team. Wilmer Valderrama joins the cast as Nick Torres, a former NCIS field agent who's been missing since he took a deep cover assignment years prior. He's back in the fold now, but the experience has left him less than stable emotionally. Jennifer Esposito plays Alex Quinn, a former agent who left field work to become an instructor, but who is brought onto the team by Gibbs. "The intent was to enter Season 14 with something new and move the show forward, do something different," showrunner Gary Glasberg tells TVGuide.com. "People are very focused on moving forward, and getting this new team established." Duane Henry, whose British government agent Clayton Reeves was introduced last season, has also been promoted to a series regular. Like Ziva, Reeves will become a member of the team "on loan" from MI6, and he and Abby will strike up a friendship. McGee will take some major steps forward in his relationship with Delilah, and has also been promoted to a senior field agent in Tony's absence. The season will also delve into Bishop's personal life post-divorce, and she'll be front-and-center in an international case that will come up later on in the season.

Where We Left Off: The team rescued Sam's son and his classmates after their military academy was taken over by Sam's nemesis, Tahir Khaled, and his men. Khaled was arrested at the end of the episode. Nell and Eric kissed.

What's Next: It's a near-certainty that we'll see a Kensi-Deeks engagement this season, but we'll have to wait for a wedding. They will also revisit the conversation about whether they want to have children, but more pressing matters "put all their plans on hold for a while," showrunner R. Scott Gemmill tells TVGuide.com Namely, Hetty and Granger find their jobs on the line after a mole is discovered within the NCIS: LA office, and when someone on the team is gravely injured, everyone else has to step up in a big way. Fans can also expect to see some familiar faces, including Callen's father, pop up, as well as Eric and Nell "dipping their toes in the water of a relationship," Gemmill says.

Where We Left Off: Despite doing plenty of awesome good -- including Percy dismantling of a whole lot of explosives, and John Russo getting exposed for being an anti-military freak --NCIS got put on a "mandatory vacation" that was more a punishment than a reward.

What's Next: Vanessa Ferlito comes aboard as Special Agent Tammy Gregorio, sent to investigate the NOLA team. How Gregorio will fit into the team remains to be seen though, as her somewhat abrasive nature causes some friction and she's keeping quite a few secrets of her own to boot. While you won't see Zoe McLellan play Agent Brody anymore since she left for "creative reasons," you will catch veteran actor Wendie Malick playing Sylvia Lund, a helicopter mom to her forensic scientist son Sebastian.

Premieres: Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8/7c.

Where We Left Off: CeCe and Schmidt got married! But at the wedding, a whole bunch of other stuff came up: Sam broke up with Jess to propose to his soul mate Diane, but not before Jess thought he was going to propose to her, which prompted Jess to reflect and realize that she still was feelings for Nick. But Nick is starting a real relationship with Reagan, so what's a new girl to do?

What's Next: The season premiere will pick up three months after the wedding. Nick's been in New Orleans with Reagan, and Jess has been trying to take her mind off of him by bettering herself through CrossFit and woodworking and learning Portugese. "She's spent the summer trying to get prepared to move on with her life, but that's kind of put to test in the premiere when Nick returns from New Orleans and she has to confront those feelings face-to-face for the first time," says executive producer Brett Baer. Megan Fox will return for another guest spot later in the season, as will other guest stars, including Nasim Pedrad and Peter Gallagher.

Where We Left Off: After a blind date with Felix's ex-wife, Oscar realized he still had feelings for Charlotte, with whom he had recently broken up, so he turned up at her doorstep begging her to take him back. Meanwhile, Felix was having his own relationship issues, with his neighbor-turned-girlfriend Emily heading to London for an internship. They decided to give the long-distance thing a shot.

What's Next: Season 3 kicks off three months later. Oscar and Charlotte are happy together, but neurotic Felix is having a hard time coping with Emily being an ocean away. He really starts to melt down when he finds out Emily might be extending her stay, so Oscar has to choose between being a good boyfriend on his and Charlotte's anniversary or helping his friend when he's in an emotional crisis.

Premieres: Sunday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c

Where We Left Off: Regina thought she had conquered her demons by separating from the Evil Queen inside of her and crushing her heart, but the Evil Queen can't be taken out that easily. The show also introduced the Land of Untold Stories in the season finale, which will bring brand new faces to Storybrooke including the very terrifying Mr. Hyde. Meanwhile, Rumple must figure out how to wake up Belle from her eternal slumber so he can convince her to love him again and let him be part of their child's life.

What's Next: It's "a whole new world" as Once kicks off Season 6 with an Aladdin-inspired tale. The show is doing away with the half-season story structure and stretching the plot through the whole season. First, our core characters will try to settle down in Storybrooke after a non-stop adventure through Camelot and the Underworld. The Evil Queen will return with her thirst for vengeance against Snow White bigger than ever before. Meanwhile, Emma and Hook will have to figure out if their romance works when they aren't constantly in danger.

Premieres: Sunday, Sept. 25 at 10/9c

Where We Left Off: Alex killed Liam, who revealed himself to be the terrorist/The Voice because he had become disillusioned with the FBI. Simon sacrificed himself by driving the nuke Liam had planted off a bridge. Alex moved back home and got recruited by the CIA.

What's Next: Yes, Alex will be in the CIA. New faces, whose roles remain tightly under wraps, include Russell Tovey as a charming Artful Dodger type; Blair Underwood as CIA officer Owen Hall; and Aaron Diaz Leon as a photojournalist. "Season 2 is much more contained," showrunner Josh Safran told TVGuide.com. "It unfolds slowly and it is not somebody on the run. ... The CIA is about intelligence. It's about how are you cultivating and using intelligence, which is a slower boil. It still has all of the great twists. It's not a bomb going off every week."

Premieres: Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 9:30/8:30c

Where We Left Off: The season finale brought the whole family together at prom, of all places, where Kenny got his first kiss since coming out and Jimmy caught Eileen in a romantic moment with Vice Principal Murray. Jimmy disapproved, not because his mom was dating, but because he thinks she can do better. Meanwhile, Pat did the Tootsee Roll. He's not very complicated, you know?

What's Next: The season premiere is going to be "major," according to star Martha Plimpton, with guest appearances by RuPaul, Jane Lynch, Lance Bass, Tyler Oakley and one more whom Plimpton wants to keep a surprise. She's not very good at keeping secrets, though, so we know who it is. We'll compromise and say the last guest star is a musical theater icon who was in Independence Day. After that, Eileen and Pat will try to "figure out if this 'co-habitating while not together' notion can really work," says Jay R. Ferguson, "which I think we decide that it's probably better that some relocating happens for dear old Dad." And Kenny, like Lena Dunham before him, becomes the voice of his generation.

Premieres: Thursday, Sept. 22 at 8/7c

Where We Left Off: Villa and Rosie's will-they-won't-they dance ended with a really big WON'T after Rosie went behind her back to find out what really happened with her husband's death, and she dumped him. Pippy and TMI's relationship hit the skids too, as they broke up right before their wedding. Meanwhile, Captain Hornstock quit the force, turning in his badge and gun.

What's Next: Rosie and Villa reunite -- for work at least -- likely working to figure out who murdered Villa's husband. Any hopes of their romantic reconciliation get complicated, though, by new presence Eddie Cibrian, who replaces Brian Austin Green as Aaron Slade, the East Miami cop who not only gets knee deep in their already messy situation but gradually reveals himself to have darker and more mysterious secrets than Villa and Rosie knew.

Premieres: Monday, Oct. 3 at 9/8c

Where We Left Off: Toby finally asked Happy to marry him, only to find out that she's already married to someone else, leaving him gobsmacked and the rest of Team Scorpion hanging. Walter also decided to put himself out there by going after Paige to tell her he loves her.

What's Next: Toby won't be the only one who has a hard time dealing with Happy's news -- the whole team will be trying to figure out who Happy's other guy is and why she kept this a secret from them. The third season will also reveal if Walter actually made it to Paige to profess his love and what her reaction is. Keep your fingers crossed because this could be the season of Waige!

Premieres: Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 9/8c

Where We Left Off: After a season of sorority shenanigans and bloody murders, it was revealed in the finale that Hester was the Bathtub Baby who had grown up in a mental institution and then orchestrated the murders as an act of revenge. She even went so far as to stab herself in the eye with a stiletto in order to frame the Chanels, who were tried and sentenced to life in a mental institution. Only Dean Munsch knew the truth but quickly backed off after a threat from Hester. Meanwhile, Zayday became sorority present, Chad continued to be the greatest, and the Red Devil returned to terrorize the Chanels another day.

What's Next: Set in a hospital run by Dean Munsch (do we still call her Dean Munsch?), Season 2 will jump three years into the future and introduce two new wacky doctors played by John Stamos, whose character had the world's first hand transplant, and Twilight's Taylor Lautner. Most of the cast is returning (including Glen Powell!), with the Chanels working in the hospital. And although Lea Michele's Hester is neckbrace- and eye patch-free when the show returns, she won't be free from scrutiny given her shady past. "As the murders start to happen, everyone is obviously thinking that it's Hester again," says Michele. "She's quite adamant that she is not the killer this season, but that she will try and help them figure out who the killer is."

Where We Left Off: The Season 1 case concluded with the revelation that Abby killed Tom Murphy, meaning that Cornell's suspicions about Ben were wrong all along. But Ben confessed to the murder in order to protect his daughter. An extra scene posted online revealed that Ben later died.

What's Next: Season 2 picks up a little over a year after the end of Season 1, with Cornell investigating a new case. It involves Eric Warner (Michael Ealy), a man who's suspected of murdering his wife (Jordana Brewster) on the night he's set to officially take over running his family's private equity firm. As Cornell looks into Eric and his relatives, secrets come to light that many of his family members would prefer to stay hidden. In addition to unraveling a new mystery, Season 2 will offer a deeper look into Cornell. "There's a certain blemish to her, in terms of having once put an innocent man in jail," creator Barbie Kligman tells TVGuide.com. "The way it would have looked in the papers was that she put an innocent man in jail and he died there. She has not only the pressure of solving [this new] case, but also the pressure of not wanting to make a wrong step because of last season."

Where We Left Off: Frank ruined Fiona's potential wedded bliss by revealing that Sean is still using heroin. Fiona was left at the altar with a broken heart, while Lip went to rehab to try and get a handle on his drinking problem, but at least the Gallaghers were able to team up to throw Frank in the river.

What's Next: Fiona will be taking some serious "me" time. The collapse of another major romance will put some serious tension between her and Veronica, who is living it up in her "thrupple" marriage. Ian will be settling into life as an EMT, though his romantic life may also hit the rocks as he suspects his new boyfriend of cheating. The major mystery of the new season will be whether Lip is ready for recovery or if he'll continue on his downward spiral. Executive producer Nancy Pimental was very cryptic about Lip's fate when talking to TVGuide.com, which has us very worried about the second eldest Gallagher sibling.

Premieres: Monday, Oct. 10 at 8/7c

Where We Left Off: Not only did Kara reveal her powers to the world, hang out with the Flash and eliminate her uncle, the scheming Non, from the equation, but she also finally put the moves on coworker and crush James Olsen with some success. However, the celebration was ultimately short-lived because, in the final moments of the finale, another Kryptonian pod crashed to Earth. There's just no rest for superheroes.

What's Next: Supergirl will move from CBS to The CW this season, and the first order of business will be to crack open the pod and find out who -- or what -- is inside. All signs point to CW favorite Chris Wood's Mon-El, a superhero from the comics with powers similar to those of Kara and her famous cousin Clark (Teen Wolf's Tyler Hoechlin), who will also make his debut in Season 2. Once Kara and Clark sort out their business, and probably discuss who has the better hero hair, the former will begin preparing for an epic four-part crossover that will unite her with the worlds of Arrow, The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Plus: That musical crossover the internet has been begging for is finally becoming a reality this season!

Premieres: Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9/8c

Where We Left Off: After a season battling the Darkness, the long-awaited return of Lucifer and receiving official confirmation that the Prophet Chuck was actually God, Sam and Dean received a strange but fairly predictable gift in the Season 11 finale. In true Supernatural fashion, Sam and Dean's mother Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith) returned from the dead, having been brought back to life by the Darkness.

What's Next: Supernatural will return to Thursdays this fall, where it aired during Seasons 2 through 5. The sense of familiarity created by the timeslot will only be enhanced by the return of Mama Winchester, and because she died when Dean was a young boy and Sam was just a baby, the world-saving brothers both deal with her return in different ways. The show's 12th season will also feature a guest turn from singer Rick Springfield, whose body will be inhabited by Lucifer, and the return of the Thule, because what the world really needs is a Dean Winchester v. Hitler showdown.

Where We Left Off: Cheyenne gave birth to her baby, only for the Cloud 9 workers to realize their corporation doesn't offer paid maternity leave. Instead, Glenn suspended Cheyenne with pay so she can have six weeks to spend with her baby. When Glenn is subsequently fired, the Cloud 9 staff staged a walkout to help in protest, bringing Cloud 9's worst nightmare to life.

What's Next: We'll see whether the gang was successful in getting Glenn's job back now that Dina has taken over as manager. The show will continue to blend workplace comedy with serious issues after it is reveled that Mateo is an undocumented worker. The Cloud 9 team will then have to figure out whether he can apply to become a U.S. citizen.

Premieres: Friday, Oct. 21 at 8/7c

Where We Left Off: Stefan and Caroline got back together, Bonnie lost her magic and Matt left Mystic Falls to find a new life. Damon and Enzo became possessed by the evil monster lurking in the Armory's vault. Three months later, they were still on a killing spree, stringing up humans and slitting their throats, with Stefan still determined to track them down and save them.

What's Next: Damon and Enzo will still be controlled by this new villain, who has the ability to see the evil within people. And when this powerful new woman strolls into town, she'll take a particular liking to Stefan since she can sense his Ripper side. But don't worry: Stefan and Caroline will get some happiness this year. And while this season won't rely on flash-forwards or flashbacks to tell the main story, showrunner Julie Plec is open to playing with time if it means the opportunity to bring back whatever characters she can (alive or dead) in the final season. That includes Nina Dobrev, who is currently in talks to return. New faces include Allison Scagliotti as Georgie, a research intern with a dark past; Kristen Gutoski as Seline, a nanny trying to figure out where she belongs in this world; and Joel Gretsch as Peter Maxwell, a blue collar man who reconnects with the son he abandoned (who is most likely named Matt Donovan).

Premieres: Sunday, Oct. 23 at 9/8c

Where We Left Off: Things were going really badly for Rick and the gang. Negan killed somebody with a baseball bat (you may have heard about that). Daryl got shot in the shoulder. Maggie is having some seriously painful pregnancy complications. Carol had some sort of meltdown and ran away from Alexandria and Morgan is pursuing her. Carl locked Enid in a closet.

What's Next: First and foremost, we'll find out who Negan killed. After that, we'll meet new friend Ezekiel, his body-armored followers and his pet tiger Shiva at the Kingdom, another community like Alexandria. Beyond that, they're super secretive over at The Walking Dead. But one thing you should not expect: another cliffhanger. Series creator Robert Kirkman says TPTB have taken the backlash to the Negan cliffhanger to heart and probably won't leave fans hanging again.
