There were mixed emotions as the Riverdale took the Hall H stage at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday morning. The CW drama was there to tease the upcoming fourth season, but it is the cast's first time on the stage since series regular Luke Perry passed away.

The actor died in March after suffering a massive stroke. The series has dedicated every episode of the show to Perry since then, but executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed at Comic-Con that Riverdale has something very special planned to honor the actor in their upcoming Season 4 premiere. Perry's Beverly Hills 90210 co-star Shannen Doherty has been cast to play a part in the premiere entitled "In Memoriam."

Luke Perry Was An Entire Generation's First TV Crush

Doherty will be playing an "emotional" role in the premiere episode. Guest star Molly Ringwald, who plays Archie's (KJ Apa) mom on the series, will be stepping up to play Mary Andrews full-time in Season 4.

The 90s nostalgia doesn't end there. It was also announced that Dawson's Creek alum Kerr Smith will also be joining the recurring role of Principal Honey. Expect him to be giving the kids of Riverdale High a much harder time than they are used to.

In other news, Riverdale will also be doing a Halloween episode that airs on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Aguirre-Sacasa also teased that someone is definitely going to die. Get ready!

Riverdale premieres Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 8/7c.
