We've seen Bruce Wayne's origin story many times before, and now as Gotham winds down its five-season run on FOX, we're about to witness it again. The show has just released an expanded "super trailer" for the series finale. In the final hour, Gotham is now jumping 10 years into the future to show us just what's become of the crime-ridden city and how Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), and a shadowy figure who keeps growling, aka Batman (David Mazouz), is going to save it.

The episode, titled "The Beginning..." gives us a peak at what's happened over the last decade. We just recently saw Bruce leave Gotham, but now he's back for the opening of a new Wayne Tower. With Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and the Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) up to their old tricks again, Gordon's out to take them down just as a new hero rises from the shadows to be the hero the city desperately needs.

The trailer promises us confrontations between our heroes and villains, and also Bruce's long-standing promise to Gordon that he's not his enemy. It's the end of the show, but just the beginning of Batman's greater legend.

The series finale of Gotham airs Thursday, April 25 at 8/7c on FOX.
