Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds, and Others Remember Marvel's Stan Lee

Comic book legend Stan Lee died Monday at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles. He was 95. The storied writer is responsible for the co-creation of iconic superheroes like Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. His comic book creations have lead to countless films and television shows -- Stan Lee is why we have the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he's appeared in every single one of those blockbuster films.

His groundbreaking, world-famous characters have influenced generations, whether in their original comic book form, animated TV shows or live-action cinema. He's renowned across the globe and the internet collectively gathered on Monday to mourn the passing of a true hero. Here are some of the tributes pouring in Monday from Lee's Marvel family, including Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Kevin Feige, as well as many other famous fans of his great work.

Robert Downey Jr., whose Iron Man kicked off the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe a decade ago, took to Instagram to pay his respects, posting a photo of himself with Lee and writing, "I owe it all to you."

Downey's co-star Scarlett Johansson also gave a statement to The Hollywood Reporter about Lee's passing. "The galaxy just gained another Dog Star. Thankful everyday to be a small part of Stan's universe. He was a legendary visionary and a true artist."

They were joined by Tom Holland, who took over the role of Spider-Man for the MCU. "How many millions of us are indebted to this guy, none more so than me," the young actor wrote on Instagram. "The father of Marvel has made so many people so incredibly happy. What a life and what a thing to have achieved. Rest in peace Stan."

On Twitter, Chris Evans, known for his portrayal of Captain America, praised Lee's "love and kindness" and noted the impact he had on so many lives.

Evans' co-star, Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo, remembered Lee and said he was "honored" to have been part of the "Stan Lee constellation."

Avengers and Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon thanked Lee and spoke of his brilliance.

Black Panther breakout star Letitia Wright also paid her respects.

Her co-star Winston Duke followed suit.

Falcon actor Anthony Mackie also penned a tribute to Lee.

Nick Fury portrayer Samuel L. Jackson tweeted his condolences.

As did Guardians of the Galaxy stars Zoe Saldana and Chris Pratt.

Jessica Alba, from the original Fantastic Four films, also added her condolences.

Thor actress Jaimie Alexander also celebrated Lee in pictures.

Elizabeth Banks, who played Betty Brant in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies, also tweeted.

Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool on the big screen, also paid tribute to Lee.

President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige, also took to Twitter to honor the late comic book artist.

Hugh Jackman, who has played Wolverine in several Marvel films paid tribute as well.

Halle Berry tweeted as well.

Rosario Dawson, from the Netflix Marvel universe, also paid tribute.

The cast of The Gifted on Fox also posted a thank you.
