This award-winning comedy series centres on the small, rural town of Dibley and its new female Vicar, who is comically boisterous when compared to the quiet, conservative nature of the town's residents. Dawn French plays the larger-than-life pastor who has to navigate her way through the parochial church council whose six members are among the oddest of the inhabitants, doing her best to keep her flock on the straight and narrow. It is not just that this is the first time that the locals have been blessed with the pastoral attentions of a female occupant of the vicarage, or that she is from out of town with some modern ideas of the gospel. The vicar is a romantic at heart, and is not about to treat her new posting as a backwater appointment. She is going to make waves, and drag the community into the 20th century.
