For the final challenge, real children replace the mannequins, as the sewers strive to create perfectly fitted woolen capes.

Puzzling Patterns and Pattern Cutting

Four sewers are left to compete for a place in the final. In the pattern challenge, the sewers must make an asymmetric yoked skirt inspired by modern Japanese pattern cutting. Next, contestants transform a duvet cover into a female garment in the no-waste alteration challenge. For their made-to-measure challenge, the judges seek to draw out the sewers' inner designer.

Evening Wear

The three finalists compete for the title of Britain's best amateur sewer by creating three pieces of evening wear. First is the pattern challenge, in which the sewers demonstrate their precision by creating a man's pin-tucked dress shirt. Then they must use their imagination to transform a classic tuxedo into a little black dress in the alteration challenge. For the final made-to-measure challenge, the sewers make floor-length evening gowns for a model of their choice.
