Balki, a naive Mediterranean immigrant, lands on the Chicago doorstep of his distant cousin Larry, making for culture-clash situations that had plenty of slapstick. Larry was high-strung and cynical; Balki, the former shepherd, was wide-eyed and eternally optimistic. The series spun off 'Family Matters.'
