Episode 1

In Part 1, Palin visits Spain and Kenya, where he explores Hemingway's love of bullfighting and big-game hunting. In Pamplona, he views the annual running of the bulls (from the safety of a balcony), and in Valencia, a bullfight (from the grandstands). Then, beneath the cloud-enshrouded Mt. Kilimanjaro, he pets a cheetah and tracks down cattle poachers, and lives to tell about it.

In Part 2 (of four), Palin traces Hemingway's early life, beginning in his hometown of Chicago, "a city of ferocious energy." Actually, Papa was born in a genteel suburb. But no matter, he was still toting guns at age 5, and so Palin decides to learn to handle one himself in order to hunt in northern Michigan, where Hemingway spent summers as a child. Then it's on to Italy, where Hemingway drove an ambulance during World War I, and Paris, where Palin visits Hemingway's old apartment.
Episode 3
Wed, May 10, 2000 60 mins
Part 3 (of four). A visit to Key West, Fla., where Papa lived in the '30s; Uganda, where he was involved in two plane crashes---in 48 hours; and Venice, where he read his obituary. In Key West, just about everyone Palin sees looks like Hemingway (his visit coincides with an annual lookalike contest). In Uganda, he tours the crash sites. And in Venice (where Hemingway repaired after the crashes---the second of which was serious enough to warrant the news of his demise), Palin goes duck hunting.
Episode 4
Wed, May 10, 2000 60 mins
Conclusion. Palin visits Cuba, where Hemingway lived for 20 years, primarily because he liked the fishing there. So Palin tries his hand at it, with no success. "That's why they call it fishing, not catching," he shrugs before heading to the series' final stop, America's Mountain West, which was also Hemingway's. Papa moved there for the hunting, but this time Palin doesn't follow suit. However, he does visit a taxidermist. His reason: "Most of the animal kingdom ended up on Hemingway's wall."
