In the premiere, Dan and Charlie begin their adventure in an inauspicious manner when Charlie's flight to Ireland is delayed. Waiting for his colleague's arrival, Dan sets off solo to pick up Eilish O'Carroll ("Mrs. Brown's Boys") to do a bit of busking on Dublin's famed Grafton Street. He then spends time with singer and actress Rebecca Storm. When Charlie arrives, they bunk in at a local hostel, the best they can do given that Dan earned less than 150 euro with his singing.

Dan and Charlie are at Waterford Crystal, where they tour the factory, get some hands-on experience, and talk to many of the staff. They move along the picturesque coastline to meet Irish chef Rachel Allen, who takes the lads on a tour of her family cookery school and organic growing plots. This is followed by a cookery lesson; the guys make a luscious salmon meal on a bed of organic salad—the aim is to sell the food that evening at the local pubs.

Dan and Charlie awaken and are quickly on their way to Galway, where they head for a famous fish restaurant on the outskirts of the city. With a little coaching, they set about preparing oysters for the customers and are offered a delicious meal in return. Noticing a group of racehorses who are being taken for a river swim, Charlie goes off to join them. The owner turns out to be famous horse trainer Stephen Mohan.

The lads head off to Kelebeg in Donegal, where they are supposed to meet a master of Irish Speaking. Driving through yet more glorious countryside, they stop to chat to some fishermen who tell them some wild tales. When they arrive two hours late at the Language School, a local chef tells them their teacher has left; clearly they're not going to read poetry in Gaelic at a local pub to earn more money. They push on to the next destination at the very tip of Ireland, its most northern point.

In the Season 1 finale, the travelers move back south, traveling along one of the finest coastal roads in Britain, the Causeway Coastal Route. Dan and Charlie then make their way to the Famous Bush Mills Distillery in County Antrim. Out of money and out of fuel, they make a bet with their own camera crew so they can get to the famous Eddie Irvine race track in Hollywood. Bet accepted and a small loan in place, they head off to the track.
