As expected, ABC has greenlit a follow-up to the summer's biggest hit, Dancing with the Stars. "The show is tremendous fun [and] a wonderful boost for our schedule," says ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson. The sequel to the celeb-with-pro dance-off could debut as early as this winter, or as late as March, to avoid NBC's Olympics onslaught. There are no leads on the new roster of stars ("More people want to do the show, but that doesn’t make it any easier to book," notes one exec), but at least one change has been confirmed: ABC will up the episode count from the original's six. So Tom Bergeron, breathe easy. For now.
