If the shirt fits, wear it.
Not for Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
While The View's resident Republican is more than welcome to verbally get her thoughts off her chest about Sen. John McCain during Hot Topics, she just can't wear it on her chest. Hasselbeck donned a custom-made pro-McCain shirt last week that read "Great AmeriCain Hero," a fashion, er, political statement that is frowned upon not only in the House of Baba Wawa, but in the homes of viewers as well.
"Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie, executive producers of The View,' don't think it's appropriate to wear T-shirts endorsing either candidate but would never forbid any of the co-hosts from expressing themselves," a show spokesman said in a statement to The New York Daily News.
The controversial tee is just the latest chapter in the escalating tension between Hasselbeck and her left-winged colleagues. The former Survivor contestant voraciously squared off against Joy Behar last week as well and reportedly got into fisticuffs backstage, something they both denied happened.
Hasselbeck found herself in welcome company over the weekend, however, when she introduced GOP veep wannabe Sarah Palin at a campaign event.
What do you think of Hasselbeck's tee? Should she be allowed to express herself, or has she expressed enough?
