There's one member of the Under the Dome cast who truly embodies a rags-to-riches story - and we're guessing it's only a matter of time before he starts negotiating for more treats in his contract.

Kato the dog, who plays Big Jim's (Dean Norris) canine companion Indy, was found on the streets of Mexico City while his eventual trainers, Scott Schweitzer and David Sousa, were filming a movie there. After noticing that the mutt was a promising young talent, they brought Kato (pronounced CAH-to) back to Hollywood to become a star.

Kato's acting technique comes through positive reinforcement training (aka lots of treats). Luckily for the cast and crew, the four-legged newbie gets along pretty well with his co-stars - and the feeling is mutual. "It's a really sweet dog, and you kind of see this sweeter side of Big Jim, because he loves his dog," Norris says.

Get to know Kato in the behind-the-scenes video above.

Under the Dome airs Thursdays at 10/9c on CBS.
