The Walking Dead returns for the second half of Season 8 on Sunday, Feb. 25. It's been a few months since the show took a break, and while you probably remember how in the final moments of the midseason finale Carl (Chandler Riggs) revealed that he had been bit by a walker, you might not remember everything that came before that. We've got you.

This recap quickly runs down all the major plot points of Season 8A. Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his allies declared war on the Saviors, but there was also a mysterious scene that showed Rick crying and saying "my mercy prevailed over my wrath," which seems to be a flash-forward to after the war. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) was holding a bunch of Saviors as POWs at Hilltop -- the only community to have survived the Savior onslaught that occurred after the Saviors escaped the Sanctuary when Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Tara's (Alanna Masterson) garbage truck-powered attack went sideways. And Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) wants the conflicted betrayer Eugene (Josh McDermitt) to help him smuggle Dr. Carson (R. Keith Harris) out of the Sanctuary so he can help Maggie with her pregnancy.

The Walking Dead: Carl's Death Means Rick Has No Connection to His Past

All that info will bring you up to speed for Season 8B, which premieres Sunday, Feb. 25 at 9/8c on AMC. If for some reason you find this recap is not an effective substitute for watching the show (I can't imagine why you would), you can catch up by streaming episodes on Amazon.
