Star Trek has always celebrated diversity by bringing together people of different backgrounds while exploring space's endless possibilities. Over the course of the franchise's 50-year history, great captains have lead that all-important mission including TOS's Prime Directive-defying James T. Kirk, Earl Grey tea-loving Jean-Luc Picard of The Next Generation and Voyager's Kathryn Janeway, who managed to get two fighting crews to work together while stranded in the middle of deep space.
With such a rich history of memorable leaders under its belt, TV Guide hit up some of Star Trek's biggest stars including TOS's William Shatner and George Takei, along with Discovery's Anthony Rapp, Wilson Cruz and Shazad Latif to find out which famous captain they most identified with. They were tasked with answering several personality-based questions including their favorite drink, biggest enemy and the Beyoncé song that best described them.
Cruz, who was asked which Sex and the City character he most identified with, had some trouble deciding which of the four best suited him. "I feel like I'm a Carrie but my friends tell me I'm a Miranda," he said before ultimately settling on Miranda. Meanwhile, Shatner couldn't resist answering in the most Kirk way possible. "I think the captain would like to try all four," he joked.
In the end, Shatner proved he is Captain Kirk through and through and landed on the flirtatious captain. Plus, Takei, Latif, Rapp and Cruz all got Picard which didn't seem to bother any of them. "I saw his bald head flashing in my eye. Big up Jean-Luc," Latif said.
