The Rookie Cast Reveals Which Star Would Make the Best Cop IRL

Spoiler alert: It's not Nathan Fillion

Ever wondered if you could make it as a cop on the mean streets of L.A.? That's exactly what The Rookie's John Nolan(Nathan Fillion) is about to figure out when he leaves his lifelong career in construction behind to join the LAPD as the force's oldest rookie.

The cast of ABC's new drama had to learn the ins and outs of life as a police officer for their roles, but most of them were quick to admit to TV Guide at Paleyfest Fall Preview that they probably couldn't cut it as a cop in real life. Their cast mates, however? They've got a few ideas about which of them has what it takes to strap on a badge and hit the streets to protect and serve.

A surprising number of stars nominated Afton Williamson, who plays the no-nonsense Officer Talia Bishop, for the honor of best IRL cop. "Afton would be a great cop actually," said Alyssa Diaz, who plays Angela Lopez on the new series, "because she's so intense and she takes everything so serious and she has good -- like a really strong intuition."

"Afton's just a B.A.," Titus Makin Jr., who plays Jackson West added. "She comes in there, she's swinging hard."

Everything to Know About Nathan Fillion's The Rookie

Another common answer was Melissa O'Neil, who plays another rookie on the force, Lucy Chen. "She has the heart of a cop, and I think she's really good at problem-solving," said Afton Williamson.

Eric Winter, who plays her partner Tim Bradford, also nominated O'Neil, though he'd deny it if you ever asked him. He made sure to clarify that the only reason she'd cut it as a real cop is because of the excellent training he gave her -- obviously.

Funnily enough, O'Neil was one of the only cast members that picked herself out as a cast member that could hack it as a cop in real life. She recently found out that she has family members on the force, so it's kind of in her blood!
