The Flash Adds Vampire Diaries Alum as New Villain The Rival

Barry (Grant Gustin) will have a new speedster to face off against this fall when The Flash returns. Vampire Diariesalum Todd Lasance has landed the role of The Rival. According to TVLine, Lasance will make his debut as the black-clad speedster in The Flash's Season 3 premiere.

In the comics, The Rival isn't actually the rival of Barry Allen, but of Jay Garrick. And after spending too much time in the Speed Force, The Rival is driven to insanity and goes on a cross-country killing spree.

Also joining The Flash's third season are Harry Potter star Tom Felton as a Central City PD CSI, Tobin Bell as Dr. Alchemy, Ashley Rickards as the Top and Grey Damon as Mirror Master. However, the anticipated role of Savitar, a god-like speedster with a cult following, has yet to be cast.

The Flash premieres Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8/7c on the CW.
