More aliens and more millennials!
2016 may have been a pretty garbage-y year for most of us, but don't tell TBS!
The network recently known for The Big Bang Theory reruns is enjoying a renaissance as of late, with a much-improved lineup of original comedy under former Fox head honcho Kevin Reilly. Proof of that success? The network has renewed its most recent pair of new sitcoms, People of Earth and Search Party.
Both will return with 10 episodes each for second seasons in 2017.
People of Earth stars former Daily Show correspondent Wyatt Cenac as an alien skeptic and journalist who profiles a support group for people who believe they've been abducted by aliens. And he also may be in the crosshairs of an intergalactic conspiracy by reptilian aliens to subvert the human race.
Search Party stars Arrested Development's Alia Shawkat as the leader of a group of 20-somethings who investigate the disappearance of a college acquaintance. TBS made the entire first season available for streaming over Thanksgiving week. Its late-2016 debut managed to get it on several critics' Best of 2016 year-end lists.
These two orders make TBS six-for-six with renewals this year. TBS previously renewed its other new shows The Detour, Angie Tribeca, Wrecked and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. Not bad, TBS. Not bad!
