Tiny Clark Kent is on the way
Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) may have finally started her journey out from her cousin Superman's shadow on Supergirl, but that doesn't mean that Clark Kent is leaving the show.
While viewers have only seen shadowy, from behind images of the Man of Steel, TVLine reports that another iteration of Superman will be appearing on the show in 2016. Supergirl is casting for a 13-year-old actor with "future leading man looks" to play the possibly recurring role of young Clark Kent/Kal-El. His first episode will be Episode 13 where he'll appear in a series of flashbacks that will establish the bond between him and Kara.
Supergirl is becoming a family affair for Melissa Benoist
It's unclear how that will play out considering that Kara was stuck in a timeless black hole known as the Phantom Zone from the time Kal-El was a baby until he was a fully grown adult. When Kara finally arrived on Earth, Kal-El already had his Superman cape and was saving Metropolis.
Perhaps the cousins had dream interactions while Kara was stuck in her pod? The bigger question remains why does the connection between the two need to be strengthened? Either way, the big guy is coming back to Supergirl, just a bit smaller than usual.
Supergirl airs on Mondays at 8/7c on CBS.
