Succession Season 4: Trailer, Release Date, and Everything You Need to Know

The fourth and final season of Succession is already a hit, as the influx of glowing reviews and strong ratings for the premiere have proven. When we caught up with the Roys, the kids were on the outs with their dad, Shiv (Sarah Snook) and Tom's (Matthew Macfadyen) marriage is dead, and Greg (Nicholas Braun) accidentally made a sex tape. Goodbyes are never easy, but if the first episode was anything to go off of, at least we know that these last episodes have plenty in store for us.

As we sit around speculating wildly about how it'll all end, here's everything we know so far about Succession Season 4.

Succession Season 4 trailer

On March 2, HBO released the full trailer for Succession Season 4. In it, we get an extended look at the war being waged in the Roy family. Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook), and Roman (Kieran Culkin) seem to be looking to find their own way, separate from their dad, after being cut out, while Logan is (obviously) still on the warpath as he works to solidify his deal with Lukas Mattson (Alexander Skarsgård). "I'm gonna build something bigger, faster, wilder," Logan warns. "I wanna kill the opposition, cut their throats." A completely normal thing to say about your children, for sure.

Along with the trailer, HBO also debuted the poster for the final season.

On Jan. 26, HBO released a teaser trailer for Succession Season 4, which gives us a longer look at the highly divided Roys: Tom, Greg (Nicholas Braun), and Gerri (J. Smith-Cameron) all seem to be committed to Team Logan, while the so-called rebel alliance of Kendall, Shiv, and Roman are still united. And Connor (Alan Ruck)? Well, he's just busy getting married.

On Oct. 23, HBO released the first teaser for Succession Season 4.

The fourth and final season of Succession premiered Sunday, March 26 at 9/8c on HBO.

On Feb. 23, Succession creator and showrunner Jesse Armstrong confirmed in an interview with the New Yorker that the series will end with its upcoming fourth season. "I've never thought this could go on forever," Armstrong said. "The end has always been kind of present in my mind. From Season 2, I've been trying to think: Is it the next one, or the one after that, or is it the one after that?"

On June 27, 2022, HBO released a brief synopsis for the season, which will consist of 10 episodes: "The sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed." Sounds like Succession to me!

Cast

It wouldn't be Succession without the dreadful family of billionaires at its center. The entire Roy (and Roy-adjacent, if you count Tom and Greg) clan, including Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, Alan Ruck, Matthew Macfadyen, and Nicholas Braun, are all confirmed to be reprising their roles in Season 4.

New cast members joining Season 4 include Annabeth Gish, Adam Godley, Eili Harboe, and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson. As for those who spend their lives orbiting the Roys, HBO announced that Harriet Walter, James Cromwell, Natalie Gold, Caitlin Fitzgerald, Ashley Zukerman, Larry Pine, Mark-Linn Baker, and Pip Torrens will be back for Season 4. They join previously announced returning players J. Smith-Cameron, Peter Friedman, David Rasche, Fisher Stevens, Hiam Abbass, Justine Lupe, Scott Nicholson, Zoë Winters, Jeannie Berlin, Alexander Skarsgård, Arian Moayed, Juliana Canfield, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Hope Davis, Cherry Jones, Justin Kirk, and Stephen Root.
