NBC Is Hot for a St. Elmo's Fire Series

For some reason, NBC has decided to go ahead and bring the 1980s movie St. Elmo's Fire to the small screen. The movie that featured many members of the iconic Brat Pack is currently in development as a one-hour series that will be "a modern adaptation of the feature film that showcases a group of close friends struggling with career, commitment and the responsibilities of adulthood," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Josh Berman will write the pilot script and serve as an executive producer alongside Chris King. This is now the second time an updated St. Elmo's Fire has tried to make it off the ground. A version in 2009 simply titled Fire had Topher Grace attached to the project which, supposedly, looked and felt a lot like Friends.

Zero other information is known about the project right now, including who they might be looking to court as stars. The original movie featured Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, and Mare Winningham.

NBC did not return TV Guide's request for comment.
