Plus a hookup we never expected!

Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) and Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) fought to reform the criminal justice system tonight on the Scandal and How to Get Away with Murdercrossover, but did they succeed?

After some serious head butting over whose reputation was worse -- honestly, it's too hard to decide which of these ladies has more skeletons in their closet -- Annalise and Olivia finally found a way to work together by facing their sordid histories head on.

Their first task was getting the case in front of the Supreme Court at all, which was a hurdle Olivia Pope could clear. Unfortunately, with Quinn (Katie Lowes), Abby (Darby Stanchfield) and Mellie (Bellamy Young) allying against her, finding judges that would take her side was an obstacle not even Olivia could tackle alone. Only a crisis of conscience on Quinn's part saved the case from getting shot down yet again.

Reconciliation between Quinn and Liv is still way off the table at this point, but it's nice to know that they both still hold true to that gladiator mentality.

Bellamy Young Books Her First Post-Scandal Role!

In the How to Get Away with Murder hour, Annalise got to make her lifelong dream of arguing a case in front of the Supreme Court come true, but even that wasn't without its struggles. Right before she argued the case, she got a call that Isaac (Jimmy Smits) had overdosed and his kidneys were failing. Not exactly the boon she needed before arguing the most important case of her life.

Her subsequent freakout (and plea for someone to bring her vodka) was enough to make anyone wonder whether turning down offers of help from the ACLU and NAACP lawyers was a good decision or not. When push came to shove though, Annalise decided to push the vodka away and argue the case sober.

She made a moving argument, but only time will tell if the Justices decided in her favor. Their verdict will no doubt have lasting implications on the rest of the season.

That won't be the only fallout of this episode though. When Michaela (Aja Naomi King) and Marcus (Cornelius Smith Jr.) weren't busy helping to push this case through, they were getting busy hooking up in the backseat of his car. Michaela and Asher (Matt McGorry) haven't had the easiest time managing their relationship this season, and this little cheating snafu could be the thing to finally do them in.
