Netflix's Russian Doll Teaser Is Basically Happy Death Day but with Natasha Lyonne

How many times can one girl die

The first trailer for Netflix's Russian Doll is here, and, as expected, it's a direct sister to previous Groundhog Day-style thrillers like Happy Death Dayand Edge of Tomorrow. That's not much of a problem, though, because who doesn't want to see some more of the inventive and ridiculous ways a character can die and wake up right back at the start of her adventure, like some murder-happy Super Mario Bros. level?

Here, we see our heroine/victim Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) being run over by a taxi, falling down the stairs and a cellar door twice, crashing in the back of an ambulance, free-falling in an elevator and possibly getting shot multiple times, all with the menacing cadence of "Crimson and Clover" in the background.

The show isn't just going to be about all the death-dealing drama and action, though; it's also mixed with some seriously comedic moments, like when Nadia throws a tantrum with a raw chicken and consults with some druggy dudes about the very different kind of trip she's experiencing right now.

Russian Doll was co-created by Lyonne, Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland. The show will premiere on Netflix Friday, Feb. 1.
