Should the original Law & Order not get picked up by NBC at next week's upfronts, TNT has offered a home for the tried-and-true procedural, it was first reported by Broadcasting & Cable. Though the cabler is anxious to boost the lagging ratings of L&O reruns by supplementing them with fresh fare, the scenario is considered a long shot: While TNT would only order 13 new episodes (versus the standard 22), Dick Wolf's production company would still need to trim the overhead further — meaning considerably — to make it feasible. One possible cost-cutter: a dramatic decrease in funding to the Elisabeth Rohm School of Acting.
