Question: Can you give me any information on Joss Whedon's new show that's in the works? — Erika B.

Televisionary: That I can. It's tentatively called Firefly and though the final deal hasn't been signed, Fox has committed to a 13-episode order. Whedon, the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off, Angel, told Variety the show takes place 500 years from now and centers on "small, incredibly mobile spaceship whose aft end lights up." (I don't have to tell you that's where the name comes from now, do I?)

Don't look for the alien races that usually accompany this sort of thing, by the way. Whedon also described the show as an "anti-Star Trek

" in which the most frightening villains are entirely human. "I can make people that are scarier than anything you can put in latex," he added. Fox executives hope to launch the new series (no pun intended) this fall.
