She did great, but her nerves were too strong

A 12-year-old dancer went on an emotional roller coaster ride during Monday's episode of So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation.

Chi Tahani started on a high, performing an excellent routine to Beyoncé's "Countdown" that got her through to the next round with enthusiasm from judges Paula Abdul, Jason Derulo and Nygel Lithgoe. She ran to the judges' table for hugs, and embraced Derulo and Lithgoe without incident. But then she got to Abdul.

"I'm so proud of you," Abdul told her. Then, the intensity of the moment overcame poor Tahani, and she got sick. On Paula Abdul's arm.

Abdul, to her credit, was cool about it, saying "That's okay, honey," showing that famous American Idolniceness.

Later, Tahani explained what happened: "I hugged Nigel, and I hugged Paula. And she just squeezed me too tight. And all the happiness came out on her jacket."

I respect Chi Tahani. If I threw up on a celebrity on TV, especially when I was her age, I would feel humiliated. But she recovered immediately, sprinting up the auditorium aisle in celebration. Getting sick couldn't dampen her spirits. That ability to put negative things behind her will get her far in life.
