Oprah Gets "First Interview Ever" with Elusive Author

Oprah Winfrey's latest book-club pick, the apocalyptic novel The Road, has landed the talk queen the "first television interview ever" with media-averse author Cormac McCarthy (All the Pretty Horses, Blood Meridian), who is oft touted as one of the greatest living American writers. McCarthy, his rep tells the AP, "respects [Oprah's] work, admires what she has accomplished, has an awareness of her book club, and thought it would be interesting to participate in the conversation with [her]."
