Watch My Show: Jennifer Falls' Matthew Carlson Answers Our Showrunner Survey

In TV Land's first original single-camera comedy, Jennifer Falls, Jaime Pressly (My Name is Earl) plays Jennifer Doyle, a single mother who must move back in with her mom (Jessica Walter) after she loses her job. She's then forced to take a job at the bar owned by her brother Wayne, played by Pressly's Earl co-star Ethan Suplee. Creator Matthew Carlson, whose credits include pioneering single-camera comedies The Wonder Years and Malcolm in the Middle, filled out our showrunner survey to explain why Jennifer is worth falling for.

TV Guide Magazine: I have time to watch just one more show. Why should it be yours?
Matthew Carlson: It will put a spring in your step, a smile on your face and a song in your heart. This will seem like too much at first, but once you get them all in sync, you'll be on your way to happy town.

TV Guide Magazine: Who should be watching?
Carlson: Vertebrates. Although I'd like to think we have something to offer the invertebrates as well.

TV Guide Magazine: What happens if we don't watch your show?
Carlson: A little part of you will die.

TV Guide Magazine: What's the best thing anyone has said or written about your show?
Carlson: "Now I get the Lost finale."

TV Guide Magazine: What's the worst thing?
Carlson: "It's only 20 minutes."

TV Guide Magazine: What's an alternate title for your show?
Carlson: Modern Family.

TV Guide Magazine: Give us an equation for Jennifer Falls.
Carlson: Take Two and a Half Men and add 2 Broke Girls. Now throw that away. Instead, take New Girl, multiply by Veep and let it marinate overnight. Serve over a savory helping of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and enjoy.

TV Guide Magazine: Come up with a premise for the spin-off.
Carlson: Jessica Walter shares a practice with Bob Newhart.

TV Guide Magazine: What credit of yours would you like to forget?
Carlson: None. My own therapist mother infused me with healthy self-esteem. And crippling guilt.

TV Guide Magazine: Tell me one thing about your cast.
Carlson: Jaime Pressly is pretty, sure, but she's no Ethan Suplee.

TV Guide Magazine: If you weren't producing this show, what series would you most like to be an executive producer on?
Carlson: The Daily Show, but not every day.

TV Guide Magazine: Let's scare the network. Tell us an idea that didn't make it to the screen.
Carlson: The complete My Name is Earl/Arrested Development reunion show.

TV Guide Magazine: Finish this sentence: "If you like _______, you'll love our show."
Carlson: "If you like puppies, you'll love this show."

TV Guide Magazine: Pick another show and start a fake feud.
Carlson: Face the Nation.

TV Guide Magazine: How will your show change the face of TV as we know it?
Carlson: It will give it a chin lift and get rid of those bags under its eyes.

Jennifer Falls airs Wednesdays at 10:30/9:30c on TV Land.
