In Living Color's Kim and Shawn Wayans Say They're Down for a Reunion Special

It has been 25 years since the last episode of In Living Color aired on Fox. During its four-year run, from 1990 to 1994, creator Keenen Ivory Wayans' groundbreaking sketch comedy show launched the careers of many rising stars, like Jim Carrey, Jennifer Lopez, Jamie Foxx, David Alan Grier, Tommy Davidson and of course, the Wayans family -- including Shawn, Marlon, Kim, and Damon.

Crass, funny and unapologetically black, the show poked fun at familiar characters, archetypes, and issues within the black community in a way that never felt malicious. It was Saturday Night Live, but edgier and more outlandish, delivering apt social commentary from a unique perspective. The show's legacy is seen in modern comedies like Chapelle's Show and Key & Peele which, like In Living Color, examined black culture from a black point of view.

In the time of peak TV, where classics are being rebooted all the time, it's surprising that In Living Color has been left out of the conversation -- especially given that many of the issues the show tackled, like a sketch roasting racist credit card companies, are still relevant today. Although there have been no official talks about a potential revival, Shawn Wayans said that if the opportunity ever presents itself, he's down to kick it with the gang one more time.

"If that happens, I would love to be a part of it," Wayans told TV Guide during the Tribeca Film Festival. "My own little private dream would be, if not a reboot, I would like to see us come together one last time and throw down for a special and just wile out one last time."

Kim Wayans, who brought a bevy of unforgettable characters to the series -- including her perpetually gossiping neighbor Bonita and scarily accurate Grace Jones -- admitted she isn't a fan of reboots but would like to see the cast reunite for a one-off event. "I'm down for a special or a one-time movie," she said.

In Living Color isn't streaming in its entirety anywhere, but loads of individual sketches are currently available on Hulu.
